Symbolic Creations was started in June of 2002 by designer and owner Alexis Tsapatsaris, who began to listen to her heart and started to design costume jewelry because of an aspiration to incorporate ancient symbols into modern objects.  "The wearer has a special relationship to their jewelry, an intimate connection. It is this connection that is explored. When people discover my jewelry, many really love it. They love it, partly because of the signifiers. Hearts, lotus,..dice. Dice, for example, are graphic, striking, and modern looking even though the symbols are very ancient. Dice raise philosophical questions such as, is there such a thing as chance? Christian monks used them as a divining system to obtain answers from God. The I-Ching, an eastern ancient divination system, works on the premise that there really is no chance. Events are linked by unseen connections. I believe that dice are a powerful symbol that connects our modern frantic world to the often obscured forces that are ultimately humanity's great hope, our spirituality. To most people dice remind them of the fun associated with childhood games, or of the adrenaline rush of a Las Vegas weekend. Our connection to ancient symbols are there regardless of our immediate modern perspective. " In 2004, Symbolic Creations began to offer unique gifts online with a focus on unusual gifts for a woman with many girlfriend gift ideas. Currently headquartered in Lowell, Massachusetts, Symbolic Creations handcrafts its own jewelry. Clients range from a prestigious museum to numerous shops and galleries throughout the east coast. Ms. Tsapatsaris has been featured by the local press and civic organizations for her achievements and is also very active in community cultural affairs. The name Symbolic Creations comes from the artist's inspiration by Carl G. Jung.
